What you wear while you’re riding can have a significant impact on the performance on your bike. Cycling apparel is designed to maximize your performance and comfort on the bike and socks are an incredibly important part of what you wear while you’re riding. You wouldn’t just wear any clothing you have while riding your bike and you shouldn’t just wear any socks while you’re riding. Cycling socks are made from high-quality materials that are designed to wick moisture and keep you cool while you’re riding and also offer compression in the arch to eliminate bunching and have mesh uppers to provide superior ventilation and air flow. Cycling socks, for the most part, are unisex in nature meaning there are no significant differences between a man’s cycling sock and a woman’s cycling sock.
Not only are these socks more durable than regular socks, but they are also more stylish. Cycling socks come in a multitude of colors to match your personal style. Some socks, like the Pearl Izumi Attack Socks, come in multiple colors to match your cycling apparel. Not only are they available in a plethora of colors, but they also have many different designs and graphics. This is the perfect way to up your sock game and add a splash of style to your riding.
There aren’t many significant differences between mountain bike socks and road bike socks and most of the time, they can be used interchangeably. MTB socks like the socks from Fox are made from polypropylene and have flat stitching to help alleviate chafing. There are also socks made for winter riding made from merino wool that help keep your feet warm when the weather begins to get a little too harsh outside. While they might be thicker than the average cycling sock, they still provide ample moisture wicking to keep your feet dry on those longer rides.
If you’re looking to up your style on your bike, then socks are a perfect option. Whether you’re riding in the harsh winter months or cruising during hot summer days, cycling socks are always a great piece of apparel to invest in. Here at Jenson USA, we’re all about style while you’re riding the trails or cruising down the bike paths. If you want to know what socks are our favorite, then ask one of our Gear Advisors.
