Ride farther and climb easier with an electric road bike. E-bikes are designed to assist riders so they can do things that weren’t possible on a regular bike. Many of these bikes won’t have a throttle, but the motor will kick in automatically when you pedal and have it turned on.
Can electric bikes ride on the road?
Of course. Electric road bikes can ride on the road, bike paths, and some of them can even ride on gravel and hardpack dirt surfaces. These bikes are perfect for quick loops around the lake, commuting to work, or joining a group ride.
How fast can electric road bikes go?
The motors in the electric road bikes will typically only provide assistance up to 20mph. After 20mph, the motor will do less work. At the end of the day, your road bike will go as fast as you can pedal it.
How much power do electric road bikes have?
The amount of power electric road bikes have varies, but most commonly, the motors will provide pedal assistance up to 20mph. You’ll have enough power to get up those steep hills and power along those long flats.
Can an electric road bike be used manually?
All electric road bikes allow you to shut off the motor so you can use it like a regular bike. This is perfect for those longer rides where you might want to preserve your battery for just the steep hills or for when you get tired and need an assist on the way back.
Are electric road bikes good for beginners?
Electric road bikes are perfect for beginners. If you’re new to riding, an E-bike will help you get around town with ease and conquer the obstacles that would otherwise be too difficult. Electric road bikes will also help you stay out riding longer.
Which bike brands make the best electric road bikes?
Many brands make exceptional electric road bikes. What makes an e-road bike great are things like frame material, components, the battery power, and the motor. Look for bikes that have integrated batteries and motors located near the cranks. Some of our favorites, however, are from brands like Orbea, Niner, and Look.
