Memorial Day

This Memorial Day, we’re humbled by the opportunity to support our friends at the Wounded Warrior Project. This year Memorial Day lands on Monday, May 30th. Originally it was known as Decoration Day and has been an official holiday since 1971. On Memorial Day, we honor the Men and Women who died serving the U.S. military. This year to show our support here at Jenson USA, we will be making a donation to the Wounded Warriors Project of $2,500 plus a dollar for dollar match of up to an additional $2,500 for any Jenson USA gift card purchased during the month of May.  The work of Wounded Warriors is incredible, and they play a very valuable part in the veteran and broader community.

What is the Wounded Warrior Project?

The Wounded Warrior Project mission is to help Veterans and Servicemembers who incurred a physical or mental injury, illness, or wound on or after September 11th, 2001. The transition to civilian life for any veteran or serviceman can be very challenging whether or not they sustain an illness or injury. Although advancements in technology can save lives, those live are often faced with new challenges.  With more than 52,000 servicemen and women physically injured and 500,000 with invisible injuries such as PTSD and experiencing debilitating brain trauma, a lot of help is required.  That's where the Wounded Warrior Project comes in to support in a variety of ways ranging from physical to mental wellness as well as career counseling.

The Soldier Ride

An amazing event the Wounded Warriors do is the Soldier Ride. It’s a unique multi-day riding event, and it’s all about never riding alone. It is used to increase motivation, confidence, and riding awareness. It helps riders of all abilities learn to ride in a group, learn skills and drills to improve, and even learn about equipment care and maintenance. What is incredible about this event is that all the equipment is provided at no cost. It opens the doors to so many opportunities to make friends, gain knowledge, and unleash untapped potential.

The Benefits of Exercising for Wounded Warriors

When coming back from service with an injury or disability, staying active can be very challenging. Cycling is an incredible way of getting back to a healthy, active lifestyle and has many benefits. Cardiovascular health being the first thing, getting your cardio in is very important and has a huge amount of benefits, from helping increase blood flow to improving the health of your heart. You also gain physical strength and muscular endurance from cycling. You can even use cycling as a tool to lose weight and reduce a sedentary lifestyle. We think one of the biggest benefits is the way it makes people feel, getting out into nature by your own power and letting the feel good endorphins run through your body.

A Big Thank You

We want to say a massive thank you to all the Wounded Warriors team for all their work. We couldn’t be prouder to help and look forward to seeing their continued efforts.  If you'd like to join us in this effort, simply purchase any Jenson USA gift card during May of 2022, and we'll match the value dollar for dollar up to $2,500 making our total donation $5,000.
